Shapeshifter Walk Cycle

Update #01 - 18/02/21

I'm beginning some Muse animation experiments! This one is of a walk cycle for the Shapeshifter himself. Drawing and animating him in ToonBoom Harmony with the use of bones instead of my initially planned traditional animation for body movements. This is a much quicker and easier method to animate the characters, keeping the fluidity of the motions in the process. I also added small details such as the body swaying from side to side as well as bobbing. The eyes bob up and down too to give off more of a smooth bouncy effect. More updates are soon to come!

Worker To Boss Transformation

Update #03 - 03/03/21

This animation test is for a scene where the shapeshifter (in the form of the worker character) transforms into the boss. This was actually animated in Adobe Flash CS6 so that I could take advantage of the 'shape tween' effect. This was extremely useful because it would prevent a very long and careful process of drawing a transition of a square to a circle and keeping it smooth and clean. The horns on the other hand simply rotate and change size, with a little overshoot at the end. Finally, the eyes close with the top rim collapsing into the bottom rim, and then reopening into the boss' angry eye shapes with the bridge splitting into the two shapes. Overall I am very pleased with this outcome. With a few tweaks I may actually use this for the final animation!

Shapeshifter Walk Cycle 2

Update #02 - 23/02/21

Critique on the first walk cycle animation was taken into consideration when improving this walk cycle. I changed the way the tear will work in the animation, having it form on the shapeshifter's eye, then rolling down the face (giving the character sense of being 3D), followed by it dropping and splashing on the ground. In addition, there is more focus on the eye shapes of the character such as having them appear sadder than the usual oval shape. The eyes also blink into the shape, rather than the character starting off the performance in an upset state.

Production Sheets Completed

Update #04 - 28/03/21

All of the production sheets have now been completed! In addition, the animatic has been updated with a few tweaks as well as the Manager's scene getting a whole revamp to make the story clearer to all viewers. Animating is scheduled throughout the whole month of April so stay tuned for more updates soon!

I am also bringing some transmedia to the table and expanding the world of Muse by giving the Shapeshifter his own Twitter account. The Shapeshifter will be using this account to make weekly posts expressing how he is feeling about his own personal life, as a prequel to the upcoming animation. Each new post will feature shiny new artwork of Muse to build a backstory for the character. This starts tomorrow and will continue every Monday leading up until the premiere of the film. Take a look and stay updated by clicking the link (or button) on the right:

Full Animation COMPLETED

Update #05 - 05/05/21

Animation of Muse has officially finished! What's to come now in terms of production is a behind-the-scenes video, a teaser and official trailer, more transmedia artwork posted on Twitter, and an electronic press kit. Also the final animation still needs credits and the title screen at the end. Click the link for a sneak peek at one of the finished scenes!

Teaser Trailer

Update #06 - 20/05/21

While production of the music for Muse continues, further promotional materials are in the works such as two trailers (the teaser trailer can be seen now on the Deltaplanet channel) and the behind the scenes video. An electronic press kit for the project has been added to the homepage as well as a placeholder for the production bible, which still requires the link to the last transmedia Twitter post scheduled to be posted on Monday the 31st May 2021. So stay tuned for those!
